Answers on quality, security, and deployment

The most important questions on data security, reference centers, quality assurance, and the validity of our imaging-based biomarkers — answered concisely and clearly.

How is the security of the transmitted data ensured?
We receive and transmit data exclusively via encrypted VPN connections or the privacy-certified data exchange service "TeamBeam" by Skalio GmbH. In both cases, a signed data processing agreement with jung diagnostics is a prerequisite. For VPN, we provide a gateway that makes establishing a secure connection very simple on the customer side — configured on request so that only anonymized or pseudonymized data leaves the center.
What is a radiological reference center?
For MRI data to be evaluated reliably, minimum standards in data acquisition must be met and inter-scanner variability must be eliminated through a calibration procedure. As part of a certification process, acquisition parameters are optimized and scanners are calibrated with a scanner-specific normal cohort (3D-T1 datasets from approximately 30 unremarkable patients). Only after successful completion are the conditions for a reference center met — and only these centers may use the services for patient care.
How is the quality of the AI-based evaluations ensured in routine operation?
Despite certification, image or motion artifacts, acquisition problems, or operating errors can occur during operation. To rule out errors, all evaluations are reviewed by an expert as part of a quality assurance process before delivery. Only technically flawless evaluations are delivered — this spares the radiologist the quality control and allows full focus on making the diagnosis.
How valid are the imaging-based biomarkers from jung diagnostics?
All biomarkers used in patient care have been validated in scientific studies conducted by us or by independent groups and published in recognized journals. Our scientific and technical team of experts is available for all questions regarding quality, interpretation, or biomarker development.
Where are the imaging-based biomarkers used?
In addition to their use in radiological centers, clinics, and prevention centers, the biomarkers are also used to evaluate dopamine transporter SPECT data (offered through PINAX GmbH, easydat.de). As part of pharma-sponsored care projects, approximately 8,000 MS patients in Germany have been provided with biomarker evaluations for therapy monitoring over the past three years.
Why are the results additionally reviewed by an expert?
jung diagnostics is a pioneer in developing innovative imaging-based biomarkers; all introduced biomarkers are approved as medical devices and CE-certified. Because errors in practical operation (motion artifacts, scanner drifts, etc.) can never be completely ruled out, jung diagnostics performs the quality control according to standards it has developed itself — as is customary in clinical trials. This way, users receive technically flawless results that can be adopted directly into the report.
